Female Suspect Evades Police Following High-Velocity Chase from California into Mexican Territory

A female individual formerly staying at a women’s sobriety home in the state of California reportedly stole a minivan and led a prolonged police chase ending with her traveling across the international boundary into Mexico on Monday.

Vehicle Theft Discovered from Recovery Residence

According to a law enforcement statement, a second woman, the owner of the vehicle, forty-five years old, reported that her gray minivan from 2004 was stolen, along with her vehicle key. Walters, who operates two women’s sober living homes, identified the suspect as one of the residents at a recovery facility in Thousand Oaks, located approximately an hour’s drive of LA.

“The keys were taken from my house manager’s purse. I happened to pull up right when it was happening,” she said, adding that the minivan is designated for the sobriety home’s tasks.

Dramatic Chase Unfolds Across Multiple Counties

Officials tracked the van about 19 kilometers to the north in a nearby city, where they attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the suspect did not comply and sped away. She reached speeds of about 145km/h on the 118 freeway until the pursuit continued into LA County. At that juncture, local sheriff’s deputies handed over the operation to the CHP once Wilson entered the Interstate 405 heading south.

“This one is very unique in the context of the traffic conditions enabling drivers to persist on the highway and prolong this chase,” commented a public information officer from the Ventura county sheriff’s office.

Wilson allegedly dodged all the spike strips tossed on the roadway by police, as seen in footage from above.

Cross-Border Escape and Aftermath Developments

The chase finally arrived at the US-Mexico border by 1.30pm, leading to the CHP to terminate the chase due to legal limitations.

Walters stated on the following day that the minivan was located in the Mexican city of Tijuana and that she was working with the authorities to retrieve it.

“Ultimately, I’m not concerned with the vehicle,” Walters remarked. “I’m more at ease aware she wasn’t hurt. The car is easily substituted.”

Owner’s Perspective

Walters, who has run Diana’s House Sober Living since October 2024, recognizes that the journey toward sobriety from substance abuse and emotional distress is often non-linear.

“This is a psychological and addiction crisis,” she said. “We need additional assistance. It is essential to provide greater resources for those that are struggling.”
